Church Planting Update - May 2008
Dear Prayer Partners,
Spring is in full swing, and so is the work of the Lord in Romania! On the first Sunday of April, it was a blessing to see 2 girls follow the Lord in believer’s baptism at the Timisoara Independent Baptist Church—First was our youngest daughter, Cami, who had been saved a year ago; and the other was a teen girl, Angela. She and her brother, Ioan, were saved a month earlier at a youth activity. The next Sunday, he was baptized also.
Debra and the girls left for the States the second week of April to help our oldest daughter, Darci, with preparations for her wedding. Tim and John remained behind to finish preparations for furlough and to help take care of the Gypsy works for the Heisey family during their absence . On the last 2 Sundays of April, our team held 5 services in 3 churches each Sunday. God blessed our labors in spite of the fact that both of our vehicles were out of commission during that time.
We need your prayers for the recovery of the extra expenses for repairs (over $3500 in all). Obviously, the wedding and travel costs were factors that already stretched our budget.
BACK HOME!
Our family was reunited on April 30th at Lancaster, CA, and we have been busy in some exciting events for our family. Darci and Derrick graduated together from West Coast Baptist College then 2 days later, on May 9th; they were married at our home church, the Lancaster Baptist Church, with our pastor, Dr. Paul Chappell, officiating. It was a beautiful ceremony to the glory of God!
We now return our attention to the road ahead as we begin our 6-month furlough. Although we must raise extra support, we also understand the responsibility we have to report to the churches who have faithfully supported us, especially those that have not seen us since our deputation. Please pray that our scheduling will accommodate both necessities well.
For a general idea of where we will be and when:
June—Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas
July—Oregon, California
August—Florida, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado
September—Colorado, Texas, Arkansas
October—California until our departure on Oct. 23rd
* Of course these are general regions and we will be passing through other areas to see our churches. If you have not heard from us yet, we have been VERY busy. Please contact us.
“As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.” Proverbs 25:25
What a blessing to hear from our team in Romania, that all is going well, and the our people are stepping up to the task in our absence. The first Saturday we were gone, they distributed 900 Gospel of John and Romans in Timisoara, which brings the total to over 25,000 in a year. Please pray for God’s continued blessing and protection there.
Your servants in Christ,
The Tylers
