THE WAR IN UKRAINE HAS BECOME PERSONAL
Almost a month ago, one of our young husbands and a graduate of The Baptist College International was killed while in training with an international force in Ukraine when a missile attack hit the building where he was staying. Daniel was only 25 and had been married only 2 years, but had a burden to reach those who were in the military by becoming one of them and by sharing the Gospel with any and all who would listen. His entire platoon watched the livestream of the 3-hour memorial service we had for him and many of them have communicated how Daniel was a light to them that they could not ignore. One close friend said that he was a model of “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13) On the last day of July, we also were notified that Elena, one of our widows and a charter member of our church, passed away. Please pray for us in this sad time, but more so for the families, especially Daniel’s wife, Denisa, and the immediate family. What a peace it is to know that both of these are home with the Lord!
TIMIȘOARA BAPTIST CHURCH
Although at the moment we grieve, we are also seeing the blessings of the Lord in our church. Following a couple of weeks of summer camps, 2 were saved and several followed the Lord in Believer’s Baptism. In one month’s time, we have had 9 baptized! Throughout the summer, our church services have been full and there have been visitors nearly every week. We are gearing up for new ministries this fall, leading up to the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of our church (Biserica Baptistă Locală Timișoara – bblt.ro).
THE BAPTIST COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL
September 1 marks the beginning of a new year at TBCI, with 8 new students – doubling our enrollment. We will have students coming from Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Greece. Please pray for them all, especially for language challenges and immigration hurdles. We also need more monthly support for the college as gas and electricity costs have greatly increased.
FAMILY NEWS
Our daughter, Rebekah, gave birth to our 13th grandchild, breaking the tie with a little girl, Lainey Joe. Debra was able to be there for a month to help.
